New signing Albert Hopoate is an exciting centre who has battled back from an ACL injury to earn a two-year contract with Warrington.
He is also part of a famous rugby league family whose father John, uncle Albert and brothers Will, Jamil and Lehi have all played in the NRL. Will also made 31 appearances for St Helens in 2022 and 2023, scoring five tries.
Born in Sydney of Tongan descent, Albert played his junior rugby league for the Beacon Hill Bears before signing for Manly.
He then spent three seasons with Canberra Raiders with the highlight being the hat-trick he scored in a 33-26 victory over South Sydney in 2023.
He was also named the New South Wales Cup Player of the Year in 2024.
However, he missed most of the 2025 season after tearing his ACL during a NSW Cup match before signing for Warrington after an independent and rigorous medical assessment.
On signing, he said: “I feel blessed for the opportunity to join Warrington and it’s a move myself and my family are really excited about.
“After a difficult season this year I’m looking forward now to getting back playing and enjoying my footy. I believe my best years are coming up in front of me now.
“I’m excited to get over, meet my new teammates and the fans, and experience what Super League is all about. It’s a fresh challenge and one I’m ready to embrace.”
