Ewan Irwin has been described as the biggest talent to emerge from Warrington’s youth set-up since the days of Iestyn Harris and Paul Sculthorpe.
And his talents were recognised in November 2025 when, aged just 17, he signed a five-year contract until the end of the 2030 season.
Ewan captained the Wire’s Academy team during their unbeaten 2025 season, delivering a man of the match display in the 32-18 Grand Final victory over Leeds Rhinos.
Across the campaign he scored six tries and 66 goals in 13 Academy matches, and added three tries and 38 goals in nine reserve team appearances. His outstanding year saw him named both Academy Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.
He also impressed on the club’s Academy tour of Australia, producing impressive performances against Penrith Panthers, Gold Coast Titans, and a New South Wales representative side – displays that caught the attention of several big NRL clubs.
He had already made his first-team debut as an 18th man against St Helens at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in April when he became the club’s third youngest debutant of the Super League era – aged 17 years and two months.
His first senior start came at Hull KR in the last game of the season when he provided two try assists as Warrington gave the Challenge Cup holders a major fright before going down 28-20.
Head coach Sam Burgess said: “I’m really excited Ewan’s committed his future to the club for the next five years. He’s shown great potential and leadership with the under-18s and reserves last year. Hopefully he continues with his progression next season and beyond. Above all else he’s an outstanding young man with a bright future ahead of him.”
