Strong-running forward James Bentley was a surprise but popular signing in October 2025 following his release by his hometown club Leeds Rhinos for personal reasons. He agreed a 12-month contract.
“Bentos” began his career with Oulton Raiders and Featherstone Rovers before making his senior debut with Bradford Bulls in 2016.
After the Bulls were relegated, he spent four seasons with St Helens, winning the 2020 Super League Grand Final and two League Leaders’ Shields with them.
He signed for Leeds Rhinos for 2022 but was sent off 16 minutes into his debut, against Warrington, for a high tackle on Gareth Widdop.
Four successful seasons followed during which time he played for Ireland in the delayed 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
On signing for Warrington, he said: “I’m really excited to be joining Warrington. It’s a fantastic club and I’ve had some tough battles against them over the years.
“The squad that’s coming together is really exciting. I can’t wait to get started and rip into pre-season, work with Sam to build my game, and do my bit to help the team have a big year.”
