Cumbrian Tom McKinney is a big prop with a big future at Warrington.
Standing at 6ft 5in and weighing more than 100kg (15st), he has already been capped by the England Academy side against France under-19s.
Tom has been tipped for the top ever since he joined the Wire’s scholarship side from Hensingham at the age of 14 and has been a consistent performer with the Academy team and the reserves. He went on the first Academy tour of Australia in 2023.
He made his senior debut in 2025 during a loan spell with his hometown club Whitehaven Warriors.
Returning to Warrington after three appearances, he made his Wolves debut, aged 19, against Salford Red Devils at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and kept his place in the first-team squad until the end of the season.
Tom is the second Tom McKinney to play for the club. The first (not related) was a Ballymena-born hooker who played in the last Warrington team to lift the Championship, back in May 1955.
He played 64 times for the Wire between 1955 and 1957 either side of spells at Salford and St Helens and also played 16 times for Great Britain.
