Stefan Ratchford has the same rugby DNA as our hero of recent years, Lee Briers, in that one feels something special is going to happen almost every time he collects the ball. Stefan has been one of our most outstanding performers and he was among the top goal and points scorers last season when he figured in 18 of our 20 matches. Ultra-safe under a high ball, his defence-splitting breaks from the back have triggered a host of scoring opportunities. Stefan came to the Halliwell Jones from Salford in 2012 and he appeared in that year’s Challenge Cup Final victory over Leeds. He gained a second win at Wembley in August 2019 and won the Harry Sunderland medal as Man of the Match in the 2018 Grand Final. After gaining international honours with the England Knights he made an impressive start to his full international career playing against Samoa in Australia in 2017. He was also chosen for the World Cup squad that year, playing against Lebanon and France and he came off the bench for the third test against New Zealand in 2018.
