Warrington debut: vs Catalans Dragons (H), full back, won 34-4 on 08/06/19
Oldham-born Josh Thewlis is an outstanding young full back and goalkicker who is playing on the right wing because of the brilliance of Matt Dufty.
He made his debut against Catalans Dragons in the summer of 2019, aged 17 and 38 days, making him the club’s second youngest player of the Super League era.
He was the first player born in the 21st Century to play for Warrington.
In October 2022, he made his debut for England Knights in an 18-6 victory over France B in Bordeaux and scored four tries for the Knights in a 28-4 victory over Scotland in Edinburgh.
He was called into the full England squad for the mid-season international against France at the Halliwell Jones in April 2023 and became the country’s first 18th man.
He was crowned the Super League Young Player of the Year for 2023, the first Warrington player to win the award since Lee Briers in 1997.
His younger brother, Jake, has followed in his footsteps by joining Warrington from Waterhead Warriors.
