Warrington-born Joe makes an impact every time he plays and is a wrecking ball in attack for the Wire. He played for Culcheth Eagles and Latchford Albion at Community level as a junior. Philbs is one of our longest serving players having made his first team debut in 2014 against Hull KR in a 34-4 win at Craven Park, became a mainstay of the matchday squad in 2018 and is contracted to the end of 2024. His continued no-nonsense approach and powerful and determined barges in midfield have earned him both the admiration of the crowd and well deserved senior international recognition with Great Britain, England and Ireland. He was selected for the Lions touring team playing Down Under in 2019 and earned caps (from the bench) against New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Joe scored a vital try for us against St Helens in the 2019 Challenge Cup Final. Philbin suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2022 but will be back firing in the not too distant future.
