Ben Currie is an outstanding second-row who overcame a serious knee injury to play for England in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup final.
Lowton-born Currie played for Golborne Parkside juniors before signing for Warrington. He was still only 17 when he made his debut against Widnes and scored his first try against Salford.
He signed a four-year contract with Warrington in June 2015 and played in the 2016 Challenge Cup final defeat by Hull FC when he was denied a match-winning try by an amazing, last-ditch tackle by Danny Houghton.
In 2016, he scored 21 tries in 33 matches before suffering a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) against Wigan. He suffered the injury while scoring the 21st try.
He was out of action for almost a year but still managed to force his way into Wayne Bennett’s England squad for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup in Australia.
He was a member of Warrington’s Challenge Cup-winning team against St Helens in 2019.
In September 2022, he was awarded a 12-month testimonial season by the RFL.
In June 2023, he signed a new three-year contract with Warrington.
During 2023, he played in all 30 games, scoring six tries, as a key part of Warrington’s “left edge”.
