Sammy Simpson’s four tries helped Warrington Wolves Women to an impressive victory over Wakefield Trinity at Victoria Park.
Three scores in the opening 40 from the centre along with tries from Michelle Davis, Abi Johnston and Amy Bennett gave the Wire a 32-6 lead at the interval.
Simpson’s fourth as well as tries from Claire Mullaney, Brogan Evans and Dani Bound in the second half secured the emphatic win.
The result means it’s now back-to-backs wins for the Wire in the Betfred Women’s Super League.
Warrington came out the blocks firing as Davis spotted a gap in the Trinity line early on to go over for the opening score.
Wire’s lead was doubled shortly afterwards when Simpson broke down the left side before running 30 metres and going over under the sticks.
Johnston was soon over for the Wolves’ third try following a brilliant individual effort which saw her sprint over 25 metres shrugging several Trinity defenders off along the way to the line.
The home side’s fourth came on the 20 minute mark as the ball made its way to Bennett on the wing to cross before Wakefield responded through Emma Kershaw’s show-and-go effort.
A brilliant kick to the corner from Mullaney then evaded the Wakefield defence with Simpson pouncing to score her second. The centre then completed a first half hat-trick moments later with another break out wide.
Her scoring streak continued after the break powering over from close range for a fourth before Trinity hit back as Brooke Price crossed in the corner.
Mullaney then fooled the Wakefield defence with a dummy to go over from short range to extend Wire’s advantage.
Liv Whitehead scored Trinity’s third before Evans went over underneath the posts.
There was time on the hooter for Bound to get on the scoresheet and complete a comprehensive win for our Women’s team.
