Head coach Steve Price talked after his side’s win over local rivals Wigan Warriors.
“I thought we played some really good footie in patches. At 18-0 we had a really good opportunity to make it 24-0 and close the game out. Credit to Wigan, they’ve been a benchmark team for a number of years now and last year they were champions. It’s virtually the same squad apart from two or three players. They are a resilient group and we knew they weren’t going to go away. I thought they had a red-hot crack tonight. Credit to our boys for hanging tough. They kept chipping away and staying in the fight. It was very pleasing.
“It’s a credit to our boys, they showed a huge amount of resilience and back bone last year and it’s carried on to this year. We had a really good opportunity to close the game out. There are certain aspects of the game where we need to be better, we will work on that. I thought there were some really good performances out there, I thought Daryl Clark was outstanding. Jack Hughes, Stef Ratchford and Jason Clark, there were a number of really good performances out there.
“Jason’s (Clark) been pretty consistent, he’s been chipping away. He did a lot of the dirty work for us tonight and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed on our behalf.
“I didn’t actually see it (Westwood incident), I was down on the side line. I couldn’t really get my head around what was going on. They’re always tough games, Warrington versus Wigan, it had a bit of everything and lived up to the hype from throughout the week”
