Clark signs up to the Wire until 2023

I feel that the club and team are going places and I am happy to be a part of that for years to come. We are building something special here. Clark

Warrington Wolves’ and England international hooker Daryl Clark has agreed a contract extension at the club until November 2023.

Clark, 26, made his debut for the Wire in February 2015 and has gone on to make 134 appearances in the primrose and blue, including a number on the big stage at Old Trafford and Wembley. He has recently been named in the 2019 England elite performance squad with eight caps to his name to date.

The former Man of Steel is renowned for being quick off the mark in attack, crossing for 28 tries, and his tireless hard work in defence.

Head coach Steve Price said: “I see Daryl playing a pivotal part in our club for many years to come. He’s still got a lot of good years of footy ahead of him and there’s a lot more improvement to come too. He’s starting to understand the game better and I can only see him growing more. He’s an important cog in our wheel. I love everything about him and how he plays; he’s tenacious and has got some really good attacking attributes.

“As a club we are excited to have Daz signed up for that length of contract. To have secured a player of his calibre until 2023 is a massive coup for the club, Super League and the game in England. I think it’s important we keep our top English players in the Super League. I know there a lot of clubs on the other side of the world, knocking on the door looking to cherry-pick our best talent, so it’s good that these English boys want to stay here and keep building the Super League competition. Daryl loves the boys and the club and is happy to extend his stay.”

Clark added: “I’m really happy to have my future sorted. I think this club is striving to be the best; you just have to look at the signings made over the last couple of years to see that. I feel that the club and team are going places and I am happy to be a part of that for years to come. We are building something special here.

“The signings we are making prove we are trying to push for that silverware and compete at the top. It would be nice if I could be part of that first team to win the Grand Final and I’ve fallen short in the Challenge Cup a few times too so it would be nice to get one over the next few years.

“I feel that over the last couple of years I’ve been getting back to some of my best and I feel I still have more to offer. The supporters have always been good to me and got behind me since the day I signed, and hopefully they will keep doing that!”
