Warrington Wolves were saddened to hear of the recent passing of Hilary Steel MBE.
Hilary sadly passed away on Wednesday night after a long brave battle with cancer.
A keen supporter of the Warrington club, she was highly respected throughout the game of Rugby League for her unfaltering dedication to the amateur game. Her passion for the sport was infectious and the contributions she made throughout the youth game in the north west have had a significant impact on thousands of coaches, players and supporters alike.
Hilary was also involved with BARLA and at a local level her contribution at the Rylands club was immense.
The former secretary of the Warrington District Rugby League Association was awarded an MBE in 2009 recognising her commitment to the sport of Rugby League.
Hilary leaves two sons, Colin and Kenneth, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
As a mark of respect a minute’s silence will be held prior to Sunday’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup fixture at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The funeral will be held on Friday 9 May at 1.40pm at Warrington Crematorium followed by a celebration of her life at the Rylands club.
